125 uniquely challenging barriers are incorporated into the sprawling marble maze within the Perplexus Epic puzzle ball. Users of the Perplexus Epic will have to form educated guesses when determining the best ways to twist and turn the large puzzle ball to direct the metal marble along the correct path. Guiding the marble safely through each cleverly situated barrier is no easy task, with barriers 3 and 5 causing Discover This staffers some difficulty. While some of the obstacles may seem simple at first, it seems that their intention is to give a false sense of security. Letting your guard down for a second will lead to the ball falling off of the path of the marble maze, which includes many sections that only have a wall along one side. Some of the more unique challenges in the Perplexus Epic include the winding serpentine section, the swift gondola ride, a launch ramp, and the mind-bending Escher’s Stairs.
With the ability to begin the marble in one of three practice points before actually attempting the 125 barrier challenge, the Epic Perplexus allows puzzle enthusiasts to build up their courage and puzzle ball spinning skills. With no batteries, loose parts, or assembly, the Perplexus is a toy that kids can pick up and play with immediately out of the box. By bringing the fun of two dimensional mazes to the next level, the marble maze within this puzzle ball provides a kinesthetic activity that builds logical thinking skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and physics. While discovering some interesting properties of physics, kids will encounter some parts of the marble maze that require precision timing and coordination. There are even a couple times when the ball will need to come off the track to make it to the end. Clear up some time on your calendar, because the Perplexus Epic can quickly turn into an addiction.
