From the leaders in micro robotic creatures comes the HEXBUG Larva. Featuring infrared vision and a segmented style body with motion like a real bug, the Larva is a fun and fascinating robot bug. No remote control is required, because this little critter has completely autonomous movement. It makes its own decisions of which way to travel using an innovative infrared sensor is integrated into the front of the Larva. Whenever an obstacle is seen by the sensor, the Larva changes direction and navigates to an unencumbered path. Batteries are included and already installed, so once children add the Larva to their growing HEXBUG collections, they can play with it right out of the dome shaped packaging.
While the Larva is propelled by small wheels on its underside, its movement looks surprisingly realistic to that of a real larva or grub. As the toy robot makes its way across any smooth surface, the Larva's body expands and contracts as if it is a slimy grub moving across the floor. The Larva's three segment tail even wiggles back and forth as the robot bug makes its way from one point to another. Made from opaque colored plastic, the toy robot's motor and arrangement of gears are visible. Children can see how the body, which is segmented in appearance, is able to move across the floor with its unique motions. Fortunately, the HEXBUG Larva moves more quickly than real thing, and it won't leave a sticky slime trail behind it.
The HEXBUG Larva has the following features:
