I rate the Harley-Davidson twin cam plastic visible modelonly fair. For one thing,..there is no combustion chamber in the cylinder head's. The Valve's justhang out in space. The other thing is,..no camshaft orientation for proper valve timing is indicated. One has to just guess what it might be. The instruction's are only fair. Plenty of Chrome though, and very attractive when completed.

Please do not buy this kit! Not unless you want to watch a hermit crab die of asphyxiation! They need humidity to survive as they have GILLS to breathe even though they are land hermit crabs! Hermit crabs require de-clorinated water to drink as well as de-clorinated water with salt added to bathe in. This is not a proper hermit crab environment by any means!

My son got the Smithsonian microscope for Christmas this year and was so excited. It is a great set. Unfortunatey it is very difficult to get the parts out of the case. The bulb blew out & the other one was stuck in the case & broke. There is no way to order another, no phone no. or address. That is the only problem with it.

This is a very good microscope kit. My daughter loves using it. So much better for her to learn practical things from this than from games on the computer. I wish there were a few more prepared slides, but then I guess that is part of learning in collecting here own samples. Also, DiscoverThis has some prepared slide sets that are very neat.

We couldn't get the light to work on this one. The company sent us a replacement and that one ended up working, but the first one didn't. Son is having fun with the slides & collecting bugs in the vials, though.

Great Kit. Highly suggest that adult lead in the building/deciphering of instructions. Instructions sometimes unclear. A Hotline number is given and the help given there is Super! I lost a piece and they sent me the replacement. Finished product is an excellent internal combustion engine demo!

My 9 year old put this together in a couple of days with his dad. It was a great project for the two of them. An adult is required as we found you had to use an exacto knife or box cutter to smooth out some of the plastic edges after taking them off the plastic form. My son loves it and is taking it to show and tell at school. Excellent product, clear instructions, and a great learning opportunity.

We received our tadpoles in March of 2007. One died about a month later and the other still has not turned into a frog. Its been almost 10months. It also took about three months for the Tadpoles to even come. The general idea is good, but I think something is wrong genetically with the frogs. Overall its a disappointing product.

This rocket was quite a pain to assemble. Lots of cutting templates and stickers out of sticky paper. The actual rocket (once finally assembled) did go quite high. There really is no reason that much more of the assembly couldn't be predone. It's also something that really needs adult supervision.

My kid got this from a relative for his birthday. It was a huge disappointment. The starlight projection is faint and unreadable. The Meteor Maker is just a weak flashlight with a cut out of a shooting star. The construction of the device feels flimsy and cheap.

I agree with the first reviewer. My daughter got this for Christmas and it is really junky. Putting it on a nightstand is actually too far away to project on her ceiling. The meteor detector did not work and the light that can supposedly let you keep watching all night long burned out the first night. To add to our frustrations, DiscoverThis.com will not let us return the item because it has been opened. Do not waste your money.

We thought that we were buying a refill of the snow we purchased at the science teacher convention in Denver. We quickly learned that this is not the snow polymer that fluffs up. This stuff turns into a clumpy mess. Do not purchase this if you are wanting the powder that fluffs up into the snow like you see on TV. This is not good.

Had to let other parents know how much we've loved test tube wonders. The directions are clear and the experiments have been amazing. It's easy enough for our 7 and 5 year olds to use but exciting enough for the whole family to want to get involved. Will be purchasing more for friends.

First off discoverthis.com was great with their shipping. The item came very quickly and in perfect shape. The product itself OVERALL is great and definitely enjoyable. You’d be hard pressed to find a better model engine. PROS: - Very detailed. Cylinder heads, intake and exhaust ports, cams, push rods, fans, just about everything moves on this engine. - You’ll get your money’s worth putting it together. It took me about 4 days spending a couple hours here and there each day. - Looks very nice when completed, and surprisingly operates smoothly. *I say surprisingly because the whole time you’re putting it together you’ll think its not going to move well. Rest assured once it all comes together it runs fine. CONS: - I’d grab something easier if you want your kid to really be involved. I’m 25 and it took me some time and repeating steps to put this together properly. Admittedly I don’t have much experience with models, but I’m pretty handy. 12+ is really the minimum age. Unless you want to be the one putting it together. That being said it’s a great educational tool. - Directions leave a little to be desired. Most steps are pictorial with limited text. Sometimes making it hard to understand placement. Once you get in there and try putting it together, its self explanatory, but you may (like me) need to repeat some steps. - Plastic parts not manufactured very well. Parts are sturdy and don’t feel cheap, but molds were not cut well leaving extra plastic on many parts. Things did not always fit together well. Basically take your time. - Somewhat disappointed with size. I thought it would be bigger. The model is clearly described as 12’’ but that measurement is probably from the farthest two tips. The bulk of the engine is about the size of a regular phone or small shoebox. OTHER NOTES: - Base doesn’t come red. You have to paint it. - You’ll need to buy glue, have clear lube (I used WD-40), and scissors or a file available.
