Glow-In-The-Dark Lab

Utilizing the amazing properties of luminescence, the SmartLab Glow-In-The-Dark Lab features twenty glowing science projects for kids to use with the lights turned low. Luminescence is when light is emitted from something without using heat, and this glow in the dark science kit includes a black-light flashlight to activate the glowing properties in each of these fun glowing science projects. The mini light is outfitted with a Velcro strap, so kids can wear it on their finger like a ring while conducting their glow in the dark science experiments, but it can also be used on any glow in the dark toys your children already have. Once kids have experimented to create Glowing Slime, an Oobleck, or Alien Blood, they can shine the light to instantly bring each concoction to glowing life. Secret messages written with invisible ink quickly become visible when placed under the black light. Three creature molds are also included, so children can even make their own jiggling glow creatures that will stick to windows and appear as if they are floating when the lights are turned off at night.

Each experiment in the full-color instructional Lab Book itemizes what ingredients and lab equipment are needed, step-by-step instructions, helpful notes, and a What's Glowing On? section that explains the science behind each illuminating creation in the Glow-In-The-Dark Lab. While learning about chemiluminescence, phosphorescence, and fluorescence, children will also gain an understanding of polymers, non-newtonian fluids, crystal formation, carbon dioxide reactions, and nucleation. Plus, the scientific principles explored in each of the glow in the dark science projects are listed at the top of the page, so parents and children can see what is being learned and use the words as a reference for researching and finding other science experiments that utilize the same principles.
