First, the standard 10X eyepiece must be removed from the Microscope. Sometimes this eyepiece is locked on. Look and feel around the underside of the eyetube just under the eyepiece joint. You should find a small screw set into the tube which holds the eyepiece in place so it doesn’t fall out or get lost. This screw needs to be loosened slightly (use a tiny eyeglasses type screwdriver) and the entire eyepiece can slide out leaving you with an open tube about 3-4 inches. I recommend you just loosen the screw instead of remove it or it will get lost (however, the microscope will function just fine without this screw, it is simply a security feature to prevent loss of the eyepiece—mainly designed for classroom settings). The camera then fits into the empty eyetube. The adapter is not needed unless you want to use the camera with a stereo microscope which typically has larger eyetube diameter.

This is a great microscope set. My son has shown a really keen interest in looking at all sorts of things under the microscope--some things I probably don't even want to know about! The microscope seems well built and sturdy and has good optics.
