As part of their Da Vinci Machines Series, Academy models has used records from Leonardo Da Vinci’s 13,000 pages of notes and drawings to provide mechanically inclined modelers with a scale replica of a spingarde field cannon that actually fires projectiles. The Da Vinci model cannon is truly fun to build and fun to use. Molded in brown and black, the structural parts of the cannon model kit appear to be made of wood to simulate the materials people would have had available in the 1500s, while the firing parts of the cannon are black to look like they may have been forged by a blacksmith. When constructed, the spingarde appears to be something transported from the renaissance.
Since this is a snap-together cannon model kit, assembling the Da Vinci model cannon doesn’t require any glue. Simply assemble the cannon barrel and build the cart around it. Positioned at the back of the cannon barrel, the firing mechanism is comprised of a spring and piston combination that can fire two included projectiles. At the rear of the assembled cannon model kit is a pin that can be positioned in nine different holes to fine-tune the launch angle of the cannon. To load the cannon, push a spear-shaped bolt into the barrel until it clicks into place. A simple push of a button will launch it towards the desired target.
