Q-BA-Mazes Showcase the Simple Joys of Open-ended Play

At first glance, the Q-BA-Maze looked pretty basic. Drop a ball into the top cube and watch it roll down to the bottom. Once my son took the maze apart, though, I could see there was a lot more to it. He spent at least an hour creating new mazes and watching the balls roll through the transparent cubes, then taking them apart and building new ones. Time for lunch? "Not yet," he said. "I'm having way too much fun!"

Q-BA-MazeThis is the kind of open-ended toy the "experts" are always talking about. The kind of toy that doesn't dictate what to do or how to play. It allows children (and adults) to experiment with new designs, get creative and let their imaginations take over. The only rules seem to be those of gravity.

"This is so much fun!" my son exclaimed after nearly an hour of play.

"What do you like about it?" I asked.

"Um, building things that work," he replied, as if the answer was painfully obvious, "and you're proud of yourself when they do work!"

Available in 20-pack (12 cubes and 8 balls) Q-BA-Maze cool colors and Q-BA-Maze hot colors, and 50-pack (36 cubes and 14 balls) Q-BA-Maze cool colors and Q-BA-Maze hot colors sets.
