The plastic is thin, but works fine. If you live in a cold climate you'll need to purchase a heater. The triops will not hatch unless the water's between 74 and 80. Otherwise so far so good!

I love this product! It's very hard to transport it,though, for the plastic is very thin. They grow fast and is a real treat to watch their growth process. I totally recommend this product to everyone!

First of all I have purchased Triops (as they are scientifically called) in the past and I hatched tons of them and only them. In this product I hatched only have 1 triop several fairy shrimp which are like sea monkeys only bigger and water fleas, all these organisms are found in vernal pools with triops,I just found it odd that they appeared when the instructions said nothing about other organism eggs being in the silt. I am not complaining it's more educational this way. Once a vernal pool dries up you never know what your going to get in the dirt you dig up but I do feel it would be a good idea to include a note in the instructions or on the box that you may get other organisms and show little pictures of them this way here if a child sees them they wont be scratching there head wondering what they hatched or worse think they hatched an aquasaur and get dissapointed that it looks nothing like the picture. I do recommend this product to everyone but you should make the plastic alittle thicker just to make it easier to move it.

This is a great set-up. The kids love watching them swim, and grow. They do grow fast. We are re-ordering new eggs for the next exciting go around. We keep it on the end table under s table lamp,to keep the water at the right temp. Feeding them is a blast too. If you have small kids (5-up) they will be amazed. I even catch myself being easily amused with their fantastic swimming ability.

I love the Aquasure kit. I have hatched many egss but i find it easier to have them in a rias tank with out a running filter. The first time i hatched them i had only 1 Aquasure left living. Now every time I hatch them I have 5 or more living at once.

We followed the instructions carefully. The first attempt was unsuccessful. The second had two hatchings, which we soon discovered were not aquasaurs but fairy shrimp. My son was very disappointed that his triops were not ancient creatures at all. I wouldn't buy from this company again.

This is a great thing for kids. You should get this for your child. On Christmas my child opened it up,and she didn't care for it. She thought it would be boring taking care of them. She has had a lot of fun with them now that we have opened them up. We have had them for about 20 days. They look real healthy. Some of them are hogs when it comes to feeding time. When all of our Aquasaurs die we are getting more. I would give this toy a rating of 10.

I got Aquasaurs for Christmas and just as pkn stated below me,it wasn't Triops as advertised. For me it was a tiny species of clam shrimp. From reading these reviews,I feel that this company has some quality control issues and wouldn't recommend.

My daughter LOVES this. We are on our first half of the eggs, and we have three aquasaurs. They are growing so fast, and are fun to watch. She got them for Christmas, and this was by far her favorite toy of all,and one of the cheapest. I would recommend them to anyone.

Very disappointed. Followed the directions exactly, twice and didn't get anything to hatch either time. This was a christmas gift for my 6 year old and it's very upsetting to feel like she's been let down.

Let me start by saying that this was easily the absolute coolest looking Triops/Aquasaur product available. It was also the most expensive. I decided that because of it's appearance,I would shell out a few extra dollars for it. I must also say I am an avid animal enthusiast. I especially loved these little guys when I was a kid. Active, little critters, who were interative with their environment and my pen light. They we so cool that I had to buy this for my son to enjoy,ok for me to enjoy with my son... Before we start let me explain that Aquasaurs are actually known scientifically as Notostraca, and they are also known as Triops,Billabong-bugs or Shield or Tadpole Shrimp.rnrnWhile the container looks very cool,in a manly way of speaking, the clear plastic walls are actually thin. (As thing as they are with most other water retaining Uncle Milton Products I have purchased in the past,so really I shouldn't be surprised there.) I was actually a little let down by this fact. But hey,I still had the eggs to make some rocking little critters and they didn't really need a strong container since we no longer have a cat. Imagine my surprise. I thought this kit was only supposed to have the eggs to make Aquasaurs, but it seems the collected sample is from an actual natural resourse and not lab raised Notostraca so it contained other eggs as well. I have twice ended up with many Fairy Shrimp (like a large freshwater sea monkey) and Clam Shrimp, but only 1 or 2 so called Auquasaurs in the tank. The instructions don't have any information on the chances of getting additional inhabitants, nor does it explain how to take care of the other shrimp. Luckily I knew enough to seperate the other tank mates and found information online to raise them in their own tank. In summary, personally,I think the tank looks totally cool, but the total package leaves me disappointed with this product. Especially for the price. Also,if you promise me a pack of Aquasaurs, then that is what I want, not a bunch of extras that cost extra to maintain.rnrnYou should also know that the eggs will not hatch in tap water or collected rain water. The also need to be in water that is between the 72-80 degree range. You should also know that they only live a few months, about 90 days tops, and with proper care you can raise multiple generations from just the one pack. I loved Triops when I was a kid,and decided that this would be great for my son because it should have been the same thing in a much better package... I think everyone should be able enjoy the magic of Notostraca, but I would have to suggest the purchase of one of the other available science kits worldwide that advertise them as Triops or Billabong-Bugs.rnrnOne last note: Since I purchased this item 4&1/2 months ago,I have heard many other horror stories from parents with the exact same item from our local stores.rn
